In light of recent events, we are sorry to say that The Golden Retriever Experience won’t be reopening.
Over the last year, we have been addressing issues raised by Somerset Council and the RSPCA, and have been working closely with them, as well as our legal advisors.
Following a hearing on 15/7/25, we are relieved that this matter is now behind us. The court indicated where they wished to see areas of improvement, and these have since been made. We were very happy with the RSPCA’s recent visit which was helpful and productive, and they were highly satisfied with the current condition of our premises.
It was also important to us to have professional affirmation of our quality of care from our veterinary surgeon, whose submission to the court stated that he had never felt that any of the dogs were maltreated or showed any signs of neglect.
We are delighted that three dogs will be returning to Lauren St James at the end of this month. Our dogs were first and foremost our pets long before we started the GRE, and they will continue to be loved and cared for as they always have been.
Whilst we were hoping to reopen, unfortunately that is now not the case. Anyone with a gift card should email us regarding next steps. We will aim to respond as quickly as possible.
