about Joules
The joule (J) is the scientific unit for energy, named after James Prescott Joule. It can be thought of as the effort required to lift a small weight a short distance, or the energy used by a low-power device for a brief moment. Joules are used to measure all forms of energy, from heat and electricity to the movement and storage of tiny particles.
